Jon Moxley defeated Orange Cassidy, “Hangman” Adam Page and Jay White in a four-way match at AEW Worlds End on Saturday to retain the AEW World Championship.
The four games were intense, to say the least, and felt like anyone could win at any time. After Moxley was hit with a three-way powerbomb through the announce table, he regained his strength, pinned Jay White and retained the title.
In addition, Adam Copeland's long-awaited return surprised AEW fans with one of the loudest songs of the year, adding to the excitement.
The night ended with Copeland attacking Moxley after his victory, leaving the audience with the promise that Rated FTR is “taking it all.”
After turning heel on Bryan Danielson at All Out back in September, Moxley beat Danielson in the head at WrestleDream in October and declared war on the entire AEW.
As one of AEW's longest-tenured and most popular champions, Cassidy stepped up as Moxley's first challenger, attempting to take the AEW World Championship from him at Full Gear last month.
Due to interference from Death Riders member Wheeler Yuta, Mox was able to retain, but things turned chaotic after the match.
Page arrived to save the OC from being poisoned by the Death Riders, prompting Christian Cage to enter the ring with his contract for the world championship guaranteed at a time and place of his choosing.
However, White appeared and stopped Cage from taking the money, while Moxley and the Death Riders fled the ring and exited the building.
Based on how things went at the end of Full Gear, a tag team match was booked for Dec. 11 Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite, killing Mox and fellow Death Riders Pac against Cassidy and White.
There was no clear winner, however, Page interfered and caused the match to be thrown and a no contest was ruled.
Later that night, Moxley announced that at Worlds End he would put the AEW world title on the line for a four-way match against Cassidy, Page and White.
Despite having to face three of AEW's best and most successful stars, Moxley won, which would allow him to continue his brutal reign over AEW.
